6 reasons to use wax ointment and how to make

Beeswax is one of the oldest raw ingredients used in skin care and continues to be used today due to its natural skin care benefits. But did you know that you can make your own cream with beeswax to take care of your skin?

Benefits of beeswax ointment

Below, we list all the benefits you can get from an ointment made with beeswax, and later, a simple guide to prepare it on your own.

1. It helps you keep your skin hydrated

Beeswax has emollient properties and is highly moisturizing. That is why it helps the skin to have a soft and elastic structure, giving it the necessary moisture.

2. Contains antibiotics and antiseptic substances

These have a great therapeutic effect, therefore, beeswax ointment is particularly effective on skin that has acne, rashes, and blackheads.

3. Contains anti-inflammatory substances

Beeswax is also known for the anti-inflammatory substances it contains. Therefore, it is very healing and helps to treat skin wounds, eczema and any type of skin disease.

4. Promotes skin elasticity

In combination with the olive oil contained in the beeswax, skin care products can be created that are very rich in antioxidants and vitamins and nourish our skin, strengthen its elasticity and replenish precious skin lipids.

5. Does not contain artificial chemicals or preservatives

Keraolifa and all natural cosmetics that contain wax and olive oil (or other oils, such as almond oil for example), as they do not contain water in their composition, do not require the addition of any preservative or chemical product for their conservation. They are therefore an absolutely natural product that is easy to preserve.

6. It has excellent anti-aging properties

Since beeswax is especially moisturizing and healing, it provides our skin with the necessary moisture, which is lost over the years, thus causing dehydration of the skin and the appearance of wrinkles. In addition, its healing action softens the signs of time and gives our skin the lost glow.

Simple guide to prepare your own wax!

You will need almond oil (or olive oil, or any other oil of your choice), which you can buy at any supermarket, beeswax, which you can find at church supply stores, as well as an empty jar. You will have to grate the beeswax.

In the empty jar, add the 2 ingredients in a 5:1 ratio, that is, 5 tablespoons of almond oil to 1 tablespoon of grated beeswax. The previous jar contained 25 tablespoons of almond oil and 5 tablespoons of beeswax.

Different ratios will make the beeswax harder (more beeswax) or softer (more almond oil), experiment to find what works for you.

Then put the jar in a pot of boiling water and stir until the beeswax melts. It will take about 10 minutes.

Let the mixture cool down for at least an hour and your ointment is ready. It may seem a little hard, but it will easily soften in the heat of your hands when you are going to use it.

They say it’s good to use it within 3 months of making it, although it doesn’t really contain any ingredients that can spoil it. Good luck!
