Before deciding what to buy, here are some common mistakes most people make when it comes to balcony or garden plants.
1. Base the foliage
Don’t choose flowers that look beautiful only when they’re in bloom. Find flowers with beautiful foliage so you can enjoy them the rest of the year. Also, not every flower you choose needs to have flowers. Put some bushes to give life to your garden.
2. Beware of the roots
Don’t buy plants that have too many roots at the bottom of the plant. Ask an expert to give you plants with fresh, healthy roots. If you don’t pay attention to the roots, there is a high chance that your plant won’t take hold as it should.
3. Enough of each species
A garden or balcony does not look good when it has 2 roses, 2 tulips and 2 gardenias. A garden looks richer when it has enough of each flower. So don’t skimp on quantity.
4. Pay close attention to foliage
Before buying plants, study them very carefully to see if they have bicolors, holes, or tissue in their foliage. Get healthy plants that last as long as possible.
5. Do not buy very flowering plants
Avoid plants with rich flowers. It’s best to get cooler plants that will thrive in your own garden and not in the pot you bought them in.
6. Do not neglect the labels
When you buy a plant, there are labels on it with instructions on how to care for it. In addition, each plant writes the height it will reach so you can avoid, for example, planting a very tall plant under a low shed.
7. Do not delay in planting them
When you buy plants and fruits, it is advisable to plant them immediately so that they do not spoil.
When you get home make sure to plant them right away and if you don’t have time, put them in a shady place for a while so they don’t dry out completely and plant them at the earliest opportunity.
