But aging doesn’t have to limit daily activities, and the food we eat can play a role in that. Certain foods, for example, can help your joints move better, while others can help strengthen your heart to keep you active.

Many of the delicious foods provided by our mother nature have antiaging properties wonderful and natural that can make us feel young at heart, from the inside out.

Consider adding these foods and drinks to your meal rotation to help you look and feel stronger:

1. Berries

Blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, and cranberries are superfoods in the sense that they have the ability to help us feel better from the inside out with its high antioxidant content. Antioxidants act as defenders within the body, helping to destroy problematic compounds known as free radicals.

When we get enough antioxidants through food, we give our bodies the ability to fight off potential invaders that can cause health problems in the future, which can leave us feeling older and more tired over time. Berries may also help the mind stay alert by slowing down cognitive aging.

Take a handful of berries, put them on top of Greek yogurt or mix them into a cocoa smoothie with almond milk.

2. Look younger with turmeric

This spice (a main ingredient in curry) can help you move better as you age; it is anti-inflammatory and can help lessen the symptoms of arthritis. In particular, it can help manage arthritis-related knee pain, according to research.

Cook some vegetables in a curry, add it to scrambled eggs, or have a turmeric latte.

3. Fish

Fatty fish like salmon, mackerel, and anchovies contain the health-promoting omega-3s EPA and DHA. Known as brain food, it has been shown to fish reduces the risk of depressive symptoms. It also has proteins that help keep bones strong as they age. It is important to spread protein throughout the day.

Cocoa powder contains polyphenols, which are antioxidants that protect the body from oxidizing agents. Bonus: These polyphenols can help protect skin and cells from tissue damage.

Nibble on a square of dark chocolate or add unsweetened cocoa powder to a smoothie or bowl of yogurt.

6. If you want to look younger, green tea is the best

Green tea is prized for its many health benefits, including its high antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. The polyphenols found within tea leaves have the ability to reduce the amount of inflammation in the body, which in turn helps reduce a number of aching symptoms, such as joint pain associated with arthritis.

Green tea can also help your heart: it’s linked to a decreased risk of coronary heart disease and stroke.
