How to Store and Reheat Golden Milk

This recipe makes 4 cups, so depending on your love of golden milk, that can mean 4 servings or 2 large. If you have leftover milk, you can store it in the refrigerator in a sealed container for up to four days.

Heat the milk in a saucepan, stirring well, until it comes to a simmer. Alternatively, you can microwave it for 1-2 minutes or until hot; be sure to use a milk frother or whisk to mix well before serving.

Ingredients of golden milk or turmeric milk


  • 1¾ cup full-fat coconut milk or your favorite dairy-free milk
  • 1 dried cinnamon stick (7 to 8 centimeters) or ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 inches fresh turmeric, peeled and thinly sliced ​​or 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1 inch fresh ginger, peeled and thinly sliced ​​or ¼ teaspoon ground ginger
  • ¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon of pure honey, and more to taste optional
  • Ground cinnamon to serve


  1. Combine the coconut milk, cinnamon, turmeric, ginger, black pepper, and honey in a small saucepan. Add 2 cups of water.
  2. Bring this content to a boil and lower the heat to high. Then, reduce the heat to keep cooking at a simmer, stirring occasionally for about 10 minutes. (If you’re using ground spices, just bring to a simmer and whisk well before serving.)
  3. Pour the milk through a strainer or cheesecloth to catch and discard any chunks.
  4. Taste and add additional honey if desired. Pour the milk into mugs and top with a pinch of ground cinnamon.
