Why are your towels getting stiff? The reason is that the constant washing, detergent and emollient you use often cause the towels to stiffen eventually. But there are many solutions for this:
Use white vinegar together with the detergent
One way to soften towels is to wash them with 1 cup of white vinegar. Put the vinegar in the washing machine along with the detergent and wash them in this mixture. It’s a good idea to do this trick once or twice a month because the vinegar restores the towels to their original state. You can even add the cup of vinegar every time you wash your towels so they never harden again.
Baking soda to restore softness to your towels
Another way to soften towels is to put regular detergent and 1/2 cup of baking soda in the washing machine. In the rinse add 1 cup of white vinegar. This particular mix is ideal for beach towels that tend to get hard due to the salt.
Tips that you should take into account for always soft towels
- Do not forget to let your towels dry naturally, it is very important to wash them after 3-4 uses.
- Wash your towels at 30-40 degrees Celsius. If you wash them at a higher temperature, you will harden them without realizing it.
- Always buy thick and heavy towels. The thinnest and lightest are usually not of good quality and harden very quickly.
- Buy towels as expensive as possible (depending on your financial situation). The more expensive they are, the longer they will stay fluffy.
